Imam Abdul Wahab As-Sya'rani was born in 898 H (1493 CE) in Egypt. He was a child prodigy, having memorized the Qur'an by the age of seven or eight. As a student, he studied under prominent scholars of his time, such as Syeikhul Islam Zakaria Al-Anshari, and was a contemporary of other great scholars like Ibnu Hajar Al-Haytami, Imam Syamsuddin Ar-Ramli, and Imam Khatib Syarbini.
