The original film was produced simultaneously in Telugu ( Eega ) and Tamil ( Naan Ee ), with a Malayalam version also released. Recognizing its pan-India appeal, the film was dubbed into Hindi and released under the title on October 12, 2012, by Reliance Entertainment. The Hindi title is a direct translation of the Telugu original, as "Eega" and "Makkhi" both mean "fly" in their respective languages.

A2: No. This is an original and unique concept written by S. S. Rajamouli and his father, K. V. Vijayendra Prasad.
