The final battle is a harrowing display of physical punishment. The Super Mechagodzilla gains the upper hand, physically crushing Godzilla and even ripping out a "second brain" in his hip. The King of the Monsters is dying. In a twist of fate, Fire Rodan—presumed dead—rises again. It absorbs energy from Godzilla's fallen form, morphing into a fiery phoenix called (though the naming gets confusing here) and transfers that energy back into Godzilla. This transfusion heals Godzilla and supercharges him. The restored Godzilla unleashes a cataclysmic Spiral Fire Ray that destroys the Garuda component and sends Super Mechagodzilla's head flying off its shoulders. Defeated, Godzilla then turns from the ruined mech, takes Baby Godzilla, and swims out to sea. He has won not for conquest, but for family.
