"The Legend of Maula Jatt" is a reboot of the 1979 classic "Maula Jatt." It tells the story of a fierce prize-fighter with a tortured past, Maula Jatt (played by Fawad Khan), and his blood feud with the brutal leader of a violent clan, Noori Natt (played by Hamza Ali Abbasi).

While the language of the film is Punjabi, the themes of The Legend of Maula Jatt resonate deeply with Bengali culture. Historically, Bengali cinema has a rich tradition of "Action-Drama" and "Social Justice" epics. The archetype of the righteous rebel—much like the characters played by legendary Bengali actors in the 80s—finds a modern, polished counterpart in Fawad Khan’s Maula.
