The Scorch Trials take place immediately after the events of the first film, with Thomas and his friends, including Brenda (Eliza Taylor), Newt (Thomas Brodie-Sangster), and Minho (Ki Hong Lee), being rescued by a group of rebels. The rebels, led by Jorge (Djimon Hounsou) and Brenda, claim to be fighting against the organization responsible for creating the maze, WICKED (World In Crisis: Killing Diseases).
