Web-based editors, which function as portable tools, allow a user to upload their save file, check a few boxes for desired items or status effects, and download the edited file back to their device. This ease of access fundamentally changes the relationship between the player and the game difficulty. The survival horror genre is defined by scarcity and vulnerability; by removing these elements, the player transforms the genre from survival horror into an action shooter.
