Ok.ru | The Scar Crow -2009-

The Scar Crow is drenched in the aesthetic of British folk horror, reminiscent of The Wicker Man (1973) and Blood on Satan’s Claw (1971). The film understands that true horror lies not in gore (though there is some effective practical splatter) but in isolation, superstition, and the oppressive weight of the past.

Fast forward to the present day. A group of debt-ridden, city-weary twenty-somethings—including the protagonist, a young woman named Maddy (played by Lucy Cudden)—decides to escape their financial woes by cleaning out and flipping a dilapidated farmhouse in the remote countryside. What they don’t realize is that the farmhouse sits on the very land where Sarah was executed. The Scar Crow -2009- Ok.ru
